FAQs about Hemp

Is hemp seed, hemp food and hemp oil legal?

Absolutely. In fact it is legal in over 35 countries and counting. Canada, the UK, Germany and France have recently made decisions to re-introduce hemp cultivation and many of the Eastern Block countries never stopped hemp cultivation during the 1930s when the US was on a global push to stop hemp cultivation so countries like Hungary, Russia and China still have vibrant hemp industries.

What are the differences between hemp and marijuana?

While hemp and marijuana come from the same plant, cannabis sativa L., they could not be more different. Hemp grown in Canada is essentially devoid of the psychotropic ingredient in marijuana, THC. This means that while marijuana will make you high, hemp cannot since it does not have any of the active ingredients that make you high. How little? Hemp product produced at Chii tested show non-detectible levels at 4 parts per million testing. This means there is less than 4 parts per million in any of our hemp products. This is VERY small.

Can hemp make you high?

There is absolutely no way that hemp can make you high. Our products have 0.00% THC, the active ingredient that could make you high. With levels that low, there is simply no way that you can get high, no matter how much you eat.

Am I going to fail my drug test?

The short answer is no. Since there is such low levels of THC in our hemp, the chances are almost impossible. The long answer is that using a 50 PPB (part per billion) cut off point, most people ingesting hemp food test at 1/10th of that, around 5 PPB. If your employer has a lower cut off point than 15 PPB, you might consider limiting your hemp food consumption since it is possible to test to a low enough level to find anything in your system.

What does hemp seed food taste like?

Simply delicious. Somewhere between sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds and sesame seeds. It is truly a wonderful nutty flavour and goes well with just about any other food. It also tastes very good as a milk and a cheese.
